“Speech-to-text” will be present in iOS 5

by SK / September 3, 2011 2:58 PM EDT

Hello iPhone users! Today we learned some exciting news about iOS 5 that isn't yet available in any of the seven beta versions released so far. Our iDevice will be able to write what we dictate to it natively from iOS 5!

A new button will be added to our device's keyboard, as shown in the photo. By pressing it, we can dictate text to our device, which will then type it into the app we're currently using.

We don't know if "speech-to-text" will be an exclusive option for iPhone 5 and will be "limited" on other devices.

This is good news, as it's a feature that was sorely missed being natively available on iOS.
