650,000 More iOS Devices for the Pentagon

Hello iPhone users! According to a newly released report, the United States Department of Defense has reached an agreement with Apple, the American company that created the popular iPhone , for the company to supply approximately 650 more devices for internal use. Internal sources say the government plans to purchase 120,000 iPads, 100,000 iPad minis, 200,000 iPod Touches, and 210,000 iPhones as part of a strategy to modernize and mobilize its technology.

The news comes after an announcement last month by the Department of Defense that they would be abandoning their exclusive contract with BlackBerry and saying they would be experimenting with various existing mobile platforms, such as Apple and Google.

According to current statistics, the Department of Defense already uses more than 600,000 mobile devices, of which 470,000 are BlackBerry, 41,000 are Apple, and 8,700 are devices using Google's Android platform . This new agreement with Apple follows the strategy announced by the Department of Defense last October, when they stated they would be increasing their number of mobile devices in use to 8 million.

There is speculation that the massive purchase order is due to the Pentagon using these new devices to replace BlackBerry phones that have become obsolete with the arrival of BlackBerry 10. None of the 470,000 BlackBerry devices used by the Pentagon run on the BlackBerry 10 platform, rendering them all obsolete. Combined with budget cuts, any future testing and use of the BlackBerry 10 operating system has been put on hold for now.
