Angela Ahrendts ready to join Apple
This afternoon the Telephony quarterly earnings, Tim Cook announced that Angela Ahrendts will officially join Apple next week. The announcement was made last October, but ahrendts has been under contract with his previous job of CEO with the company of clothing call Burberry
So far, Ahrendts will join Apple as vice president of Retail and online stores, a position that has seen significant business growth in recent years.
In 2011, Ron Johnson left for a CEO position at JC Penney , and his replacement, John Browett , was ousted in less than a year due to a conflict of interest. Since Browett 's departure , the vice president and head of retail has remained vacant, with a team of veteran Apple retail executives reporting directly to Tim Cook. But after a lengthy search, the company announced the high-profile hiring of Ahrendts , who has received high praise for his work at Burberry.
The lease is seen by most critics as a victory for Apple, and as a potential chess piece in its iWatch rollout plans. Earlier this month, rumors suggested that Ahrendts might stay with Burberry until June in order to collect a performance bonus, but it appears Apple made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
