Apple has just acquired major machinery in Arizona

Last year it was reported that Apple and GT Advance d reached an agreement to open and operate a manufacturing plant related to the production of sapphire crystal displays.

Earlier this year, we learned that the deal was very close to being finalized. This is why Apple decided to begin the process this February, acquiring significant sapphire crystal treatment furnaces.

We know little about the specific applications of this new machinery, but we can deduce that these sheets will be used in future Apple devices . What is clear, however, is the potential benefit these machines offer the company, as they will allow GT to advance the production of sapphire crystal displays , which, incidentally, meet high-quality standards.

The treatment ovens are large machines that can easily process several slabs of glass for the subsequent coating of new devices. This means we're talking about a production of 100 to 200 million screens per year with these incredible machines.

What we can deduce is that, given the intended use of these ovens, it's almost impossible to imagine the glass being manufactured specifically for camera and Touch ID sensors. These ovens have one of the best quality control systems, so it wouldn't be possible to test something so small.

Finally, to conclude the information on the supply chain for both companies, we know that GT Advanced is currently ordering several new components and important machinery. According to shipping documents and other company data, 518 units have already been received, and another 420 machines are still awaiting delivery, along with 100 tons of graphite material for heating the furnaces.
