Apple now buys all your used electronics.

Hello iPhone users, This week Apple released some changes to its recycling program, It seems they're more open to sharing the love with Apple gift cards and helping you get rid of your used electronics, even if they're not Apple products. Among the changes are gift cards in exchange for old iPhones or iPads and the recycling of old computers.

 

It's hard to believe that the original iPad, at just 16 months old, is considered old, but if you have one and aren't interested in selling it on Craigslist or eBay, Apple's recycling program might work for you. You'll receive an Apple gift card worth $170 for a 16GB iPad 3G in perfect working order and $40 for one in poor condition. For your information, used iPads are still selling for over $320 on eBay.

While gift cards may not reflect the true value of your iPhone or iPad, Apple's other trade-in options can be helpful. Apple will now help you get rid of old computers and monitors that aren't even boxed up for free at a garage sale.

Previously, Apple recycled non-Apple computers and monitors for free to customers who upgraded to a Mac. For those who wanted to recycle old computers without buying a Mac, Apple charged $30 to cover shipping costs. Now, anyone can recycle an old computer for free, regardless of whether they buy a new Mac.

Apple uses two providers for its recycling programs. For items with commercial value, Apple contracts with PowerOn , and for recycling items with no value, they use WeRecycle . In Spain, all management is handled through Asimelec.
