Nokia wants Apple to buy its mapping system, HERE

Nokia has not only sold its smartphone division to Microsoft , but now seems to want to return to the business, and to top it off, the Finnish company is also very interested in selling its HERE mapping system . According to Bloomberg, the company is looking to sell this division to Apple for $3.2 billion.

Will Apple accept? Why would they need it if they already have their own system?

But Nokia doesn't just have Apple as a potential buyer in mind ; other companies vying for its system include Facebook , Baidu, Alibaba, and Amazon . All indications are that Nokia's revenue in this division is declining, and the company wants to focus on its return to the mobile market. But what would happen if they did return to the smartphone market? What mapping systems would they use?

Last August, Apple hired one of the executives from Nokia's HERE team to work on its maps application, so a purchase by Apple could indicate that some data from this system could be included in both iOS and OS X.

Apple's acquisition of HERE could also turn this union into greater competition for Google Maps , especially after Nokia's maps proved to be a major competitor to Apple Maps after its application arrived on the App Store.
