Apple is exploring the possibility of transferring files during a phone call.

Hello iPhone users, according to a patent filed this week by the Cupertino company, Apple is working on a feature that would allow users to transfer files while making a phone call.
The patent includes descriptions for sending text messages, emails, contacts, documents, and other types of files while a user is on a phone call with another person. The 16-page patent, titled "Auto Messaging to Currently Connected CallerThe patent was filed in February 2008. With this patent and its subsequent development, Apple aims to eliminate the tedious task of having to end a voice call in order to send a series of files required by the call recipient. The patent involves the use of various communication protocols, including GSM, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX, in addition to Bluetooth. The patent describes how the receiving phone should behave upon receiving these files, such as if the user wants the phone to add the contact directly to their address book.
