Apple begins construction of Apple Campus 2
Construction has begun on Apple Campus 2, a new headquarters being built on the site of the former HP factory . We know we are about to see one of Apple's most magnificent, innovative, and expensive projects.
Its designer, Norman Foster, is the renowned architect behind the construction of the "Spaceship" or Apple Campus 2. Foster recently shared an extensive interview with Architectural Record about the sources of inspiration and the design process behind Apple's future headquarters.
Currently, Apple Campus 2 is in an initial stage of construction, and it is precisely this headquarters that is particularly capturing the attention of many people around the world; after it was published that Foster and the late Steve Jobs planned the look and feel that this new Apple headquarters will have.
“With Apple Campus 2, we sought to emphasize green spaces in the planning, taking inspiration from London’s famous squares, where many of the houses are surrounded by wonderful green space,” Foster commented.
As you may recall, demolition of the site began in November 2013, after Apple received unanimous approval for the project from the Cupertino City Council. However, Apple Campus 2 is expected to be completed sometime in 2016, a facility that will house more than 12.000 Apple employees.
