Apple today released the third beta version of an upcoming iOS 12.1.1 developer update. This update comes a week after the second beta version and two weeks after the release of iOS 12.1, a major update that brought numerous new features to iOS.

Registered developers can download the new iOS 12.1.1 beta from the Apple Developer Center. Alternatively, they can download it via Air once the appropriate configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.

The iOS 12.1.1 update reintroduces the feature that lets you take a Live Photo while on a FaceTime call. It also brings improvements to the FaceTime user interface.

FaceTime features a redesigned bottom bar, which includes quick access buttons to mute a call and flip the camera. Swiping up on the bottom bar reveals additional options for call participants. Previously, FaceTime users had to tap three dots to access a secondary menu with these features.

For the iPhone XR, iOS 12.1.1 allows the use of Haptic Touch to expand notifications on the Lock Screen. iPhone XR owners can press and hold a notification banner to view additional content.

iOS 12.1.1 also adds a new option in Apple News to hide the sidebar on the iPad when using the app in landscape mode. This feature introduces an option to disable the physical SIM card in the device in favor of the eSIM. And the Apple Watch app icon is adjusted to resemble the Apple Watch Series 4.
