Apple remains optimistic about iPad sales

While Apple has had great success with sales of its Macs and especially the iPhone in general, thanks in large part to the latest mobile model, the company has been somewhat quiet regarding iPad activity in terms of revenue, due to a drop in sales that has affected the year-end overall.

According to data reported by Apple, the company has experienced an 18% drop in sales compared to the previous year (2013). Tim Cook believes that the arrival of the iPhone 6, with its extensive marketing campaign, has influenced users' preference for buying a smartphone in this category over an iPad.

Furthermore, users generally update their iPads less frequently than their iPhones, which have a two-year lifecycle, while the Mac lasts for five years.

Cook also states that in highly developed markets like Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom, 50% of users are first-time iPad buyers , but in China, that figure reaches 70%. This suggests that such a high percentage indicates a less saturated market.

Furthermore, the usage level indicates the device's continued popularity. To put this in perspective, it has been shown that 71% of internet browsing on mobile devices comes via the iPad.

Cook is aware that there will be no miraculous changes in the short term regarding iPad sales, but the executive assures that now with IBM as partners it will be enough to achieve a great change.

I think we’re going to change the way people work ,” added the Apple CEO.
