Apple wants to reduce streaming subscription prices

Currently, there are many streaming service alternatives that allow users to listen to all the music they want for $10 a month, something that Apple considers too high a price, so it is looking for ways to make Beat's service more affordable.

According to Re/Code , Apple is in talks with major record labels to offer the service for less than the $10 subscription fee users currently pay. Achieving this seems unlikely, given that they only recently allowed similar services like Rhapsody and Spotify to offer the same service, which could lead to users downloading and selling music illegally.

On the other hand, the legal music download business seems to be in decline, something that can be attributed to the streaming services themselves, other portals like YouTube , Pandora, or even iTunes Radio, so users don't feel the need to pay to download music.

A recent survey by Spotify , the most popular streaming service, revealed that only 25% of its subscribers spend more than $10 per month on music every three months . This clearly indicates low user engagement with the service, given the various ways to obtain free music online, which could render Apple's plans to reduce streaming costs futile.
