As someone who handles tons of data metrics in Google Reader, I was thrilled to see Phantom Fish Software launch Byline on the App Store. Byline, as you might expect, brings all your Google Reader subscriptions together and displays them for you to read, while also keeping track of the articles you've read and marking them as such.

I know, you'll say: NetNewsWire does the same thing and is park for freeOK, that's true, but even if it costs like $10.0 (You can get it for free by downloading it here) And without boring you with details, this application is worth having since I prefer to keep Google Reader working the way it is, instead of wasting time changing the way I work.

But the best part, especially for iPod touch owners, is this: the ability to bookmark or annotate an article and save it to your iPhone or iPod to read offline. If you bookmark an item using your browser, Safari Mobile, or Byline, it saves it for later. Annotating an article is even better, because you can save pages that aren't even in your RSS feeds to read offline with Byline.

Additionally, a drawback is that Byline doesn't allow you to search or browse by tags; instead, they list everything together by date. Phantom Fish says this is due to performance reasons. They claim they're working on it, so let's hope so…
