Change SMS, unlock, and lock tones using a theme.
An easier way to set SMS tones, change the lock and unlock sound on your iPhone.
I hope you find it easy to modify them, as it was a great effort for me to help you.
Requirements:
- iPhone/iPod Touch 2.0 – 2.1 – 2.2 – 2.2.1 Firmware

- WinCSP
- converter to .aiff
- Tones no longer than 30 seconds
- Winterboard.
1. Well, we'll start by looking for a tone if we don't already have it; you'll find many here on this page. http://audiko.net/.
Now we download the file of our preferred ringtone to our desktop.
Once downloaded, we'll need to convert it to .aiff. We can do this more quickly and easily; here's a link to do it online. http://media-convert.com/conversion/.
Now comes the magic, now that we have the file on our desktop we will rename it.
Remember that we only have 6 SMS tones, so to change them, the exact name you will give them is this: «sms-received?.caf» (without quotes).
Remember, the ? represents the numbers 1 through 6, and remember to change the entire file to this type of name. For the unlock file, we also convert it and rename it to unlock.caf, and for the lock file, it will be lock.caf. We will rename them like this as well.
Okay, now that we have our SMS, unlock, and lock tones, we'll do the following: create a folder on our desktop called
"Theme" (we can give it a proper name, for example Theme Wybochas), inside that Theme folder, we will create a folder called exactly like UISounds, inside this folder we will put our SMS, unlock and lock sounds.
Okay, we're almost done. Now we'll go to WinSCP and follow this path: private/var/stash/themes. Copy our sound theme there, close WinSCP, and go to Winterboard. Find our theme and select it. Exit Winterboard; it will respring, and that's it. Here are two complete sound packs: one for guitar and one for horror. They're ready to be added to Winterboard.
