How to be prepared for the future: Jailbreak Untethered iOS 6.1

The release of the next Untethered Jailbreak is just around the corner , but before it arrives we need to be prepared, so I've left you a video with information on how to get ready for its arrival.

Many people ask me on social media, and you might even be wondering yourselves, if your device is compatible with Jailbreak 6.1 . Below is a list of all compatible iDevices.

If your iDevice is on the compatibility list, you can be sure that whether it's an iPhone, iPod, or iPad, you'll be able to jailbreak it untethered on iOS 6.1.

A very common question: Can I update to iOS 6.1 now or wait for the jailbreak to be released?

The answer is YES, you can safely update your device. Hackers advise doing so after a clean restore via iTunes (do NOT update via Wi-Fi directly from your iPhone) to ensure everything goes smoothly and the process is much faster.

You can also wait for the jailbreak to be released if you feel more confident. If that's the case, I advise you to download a copy of iOS 6.1 to your PC or Mac now , so that when the jailbreak is released you can update and avoid wasting time waiting for iOS to download.

Download iOS 6.1 according to your device.

To install iOS 6.1 manually, if you don't know how, follow these steps.

Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes . Click the Restore button while simultaneously pressing the ALT key on a Mac and the SHIFT key on Windows. This will allow you to select the file and prevent it from being downloaded again.

We look for the Firmware in the following path:

FOR MAC: Your user name/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/
FOR WINDOWS: Your_username/Application/ DataApple /Computer/ iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

The last name will change depending on the device you have ( iPhone, iPad, iPod… Software Updates)

Once the device is restored and the new iOS 6.1 is loaded, we will have to jailbreak it. After that, we can restore the backup we made to have everything exactly the same as before.

What to do with iPhones that depend on the Baseband or use Gevey SIM

If you're an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 user and you rely on the baseband to unlock your iPhone , I advise against updating. Doing so will update the baseband, and there will be no way to unlock your iPhone.

Just like those of us who use Gevey cards to unlock our devices , we'll have to wait for the jailbreak to be released and for the Gevey companies to announce whether it's compatible with iOS 6.1.

If you're a user who has already updated, I recommend saving your iOS 6.1 SHSH blobs . These files are very important. You can use the popular app TinyUmbrella to save them.

How to create a backup with iTunes.

Whenever we jailbreak a device, we need to restore it, but first we must save a backup of our device . iTunes has the option to save everything on your device, such as:

Photos
Videos
Contacts
Emails
Notes
Calendars
Configuration settings
and much more.

That's why it's always recommended to make backups. Even if you have iCloud automatic backups set up , you can manually save another backup to iTunes. It's very easy; here's how:

Connect your iPhone to the computer and open iTunes.
On the iPhone screen, click the button Make a copy now.

Once the jailbreak is complete , you can open iTunes again and click the Restore Backup button. Choose the last backup you saved, and in a few minutes, your iPhone will be exactly the same as before you started the whole process, but with the jailbreak done.
