How to make your own Bootlogos for iOS 4.2.1, 4.3.2 and 4.3.3

Well, many people have been asking me how to make boot logos, so here's the tutorial. One of the most striking features of the latest jailbreak for 4.2.1 using GreenPois0n or 4.3.2 and 4.3.3 using Reds0w rc16, is the ability to change the Apple logo when turning on the phone to a sequence of images of our choosing.
As I said above, this only works on the specified firmware version and using the indicated untethered jailbreak methods.

Requirements:

  • iPhone 4/3GS/3G
  • iPod Touch 4G, 3G, 2G
  • iPad Wifi, 3g
  • iOS 4.2.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3
  • Apple Boot Logo (Cydia)

 

If you meet these requirements, you can download Animate (free) from Cydia and a large number of animated boot logos for both iPhone/iPod and iPad, but if you don't like them, you can always make them yourself. Here are the steps to follow.

To make these images look good, we must create them at the size that our device allows: 320×480 (devices without Retina Display), 640×960 (iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G) or 768×1024 (iPad).

The sequence of images we create will be named from zero -> 0 (0.png, 01.png, …, n.png…) where n is the final number. We save the bootlogos sequence to the size indicated above, depending on our device.

Once Animate is installed, we upload the boot logos to the device via SSH to the following path:

  • /Library/BootLogos/”bootlogo folder”

We tried Animate, from the settings and previewed our sequence. We restarted the device and enjoyed our animated logo.

Recommendation: Use iFunbox to transfer files from your PC/MAC to your iPod/iPhone/iPad.
Important: Always use the correct image size for them to work
