How to install OS X El Capitan

This method is for those with a developer account and an active Apple Developer Program membership. To download the developer preview of OS X El Capitan, simply go to the Apple Developer website and navigate to " Resources ." Then, select the OS X section.

Next, go to the "Downloads" tab . The first download you'll see is the one you're looking for: the OS X El Capitan beta. If you're already logged in to your account, you'll see the " Download OS X v10.11 Developer beta " button . Otherwise, you'll see text and a link prompting you to log in. Once you're logged in, the aforementioned button will appear.

Clicking that button will assign you a code that can be redeemed in the Mac App Store . Once downloaded, the installer will be available in your Launchpad and Applications folder.

Download OS X El Capitan without being a developer

Even though the OS X El Capitan beta is intended solely for developers, if you don't have an Apple Developer Program account, it's possible to "trick" Apple into installing OS X 10.11. While this is possible, it's not recommended because it involves an incomplete version of the operating system, which can be quite unstable.
