How do I fix error 48 in iTunes when trying to restore my iPhone 4s?

My iPhone was jailbroken and belonged to my brother; he gave it to me. I went to settings and selected "erase all settings and content" to clean up the iPhone 4S, and that's when it froze for a long time without completing the restore! Then, through iTunes, I tried to repair it, so it asked for the latest iOS 9.1.2 update, and it froze again, but this time it gave the infamous error 48. In short, these sons of bitches ruined our iPhones forever.
