Apple TV Live service would be delayed until 2016

For several months now, there has been talk about Apple's negotiations regarding the launch of a new Apple TV encoder. In short, this would be one of the new services the company would incorporate, through live television streaming over the internet.

We knew little to nothing about Apple's new service until today, when a report announced that its launch had been rescheduled for 2016. This latest news regarding the future of Apple television suggests that the new Apple TV will be unveiled at the keynote on September 09th.

On the other hand, the report also indicates that, although Apple wanted to launch its streaming service alongside the new Apple TV , they opted to postpone the launch for a later date.

And what would be the reasons for delaying the launch of the new Apple TV?

According to the report, television network licensing programming (owned by CBS Corp. and 21st Century Fox Inc. ) is expected to be progressing slowly.

On the other hand, it should be noted that, according to sources close to the company, Apple still lacks the necessary network infrastructure and data communications network to guarantee a good user experience.

Apple may be able to use Akamai's 170.000-server content delivery network to assist with live television streaming. However, as reported, it remains uncertain what resources the company will allocate to maintain such a large-scale deployment.

However, despite all efforts, the company still won't be able to launch its television service. It's believed that one of the main negotiation sticking points has been the price of the content. According to the latest reports, Apple is planning to offer a package of popular channels for $40 a month.

This has led to disagreement among television programmers, who have reportedly requested more funding for the new services.

Perhaps this is why Apple has yet to finalize the right mix of channels at the right price. Negotiations, as we mentioned, have proven somewhat complicated due to ongoing disagreements with the networks.
