Apple may discontinue production of the iPad 2

Is it possible that, after having been on the market for almost three years, Apple 's iPad 2 will be removed from the list of device production in the future?

This news, which will surely surprise you all, seems to be not far from the truth. It appears the company is indeed considering discontinuing production of the second -generation device in its future plans.

The reason for this is still uncertain for all of us, but we believe that one of the main causes lies in the fact that users are currently upgrading their devices, and little by little we are opting for products that give us new and better functionalities.

However, Apple is still reportedly evaluating this option, since its older devices have an A5 processor and their non-Retina displays are not generating profits for the company; on the contrary, these iPads, with their inferior technology, are incurring more expenses for machinery that the company wants to replace.

These two disadvantages, in conclusion, would be one of the main reasons why the company would discontinue production of the iPad 2. While the iPad 2 had a tremendous run a few years ago, customers are now opting for more compact iPads with higher resolution.

Finally, and as analyst Mich-Chi Kuo deduced, Apple could discontinue the iPad 2 in the first quarter of 2014, since the company is currently acquiring important machinery for its future production.
