Soon you'll be able to make purchases from Twitter on your mobile phone.
Twitter is undoubtedly one of the most widely used social networks today, especially since it's very different from other sites like Google Plus or Facebook. However, the network has been making a series of changes to benefit users, starting with the introduction of manual retweets (RT) and the recent redesign.
Leveraging the reach and influence of the social network, Twitter will soon have a new button to make purchases through advertising found on the platform. The announcement was made official on their blog, where they stated that the option will be rolled out gradually to users, providing a seamless experience on their mobile devices.
Twitter confirmed that the update will be available on Android and iOS , and that they are partnering with Fancy, Gumroad, Musictoday, and Stripe as initial testing platforms to assess results and subsequently expand to other partners.
After users make a purchase, their information will be securely saved to make future purchases even faster. Twitter users will also receive purchase confirmation emails in their timeline.
On the other hand, Twitter has also demanded that Twitpic shut down its site or else it would deny access to its API, which is used to allow users of the 160-character network to upload and share images when this was not natively possible on their own site.
Twitpic, for its part, does not have a sufficient legal team to face a company of such weight and influence, so on September 25th they will close their doors , but before doing so they will allow users to export their data.
