Apple releases tool to check if an iPhone is locked

Apple has just released a useful tool that helps us confirm if a device or iPhone is locked due to possible theft, which would require the use of the user's credentials to make any changes.

This is a web app to check the blocked status of a mobile phone by simply entering the IMEI or serial number . As shown in the screenshot of the tool, you only need to enter this information plus a captcha code to prevent spam in the tool, and that's it.

This tool is useful if you want to buy a second-hand iPhone and need to check if it has possibly been reported as stolen or lost by its previous owner, something that usually happens when making online iPhone purchases and upon receiving it at home we find the bad news that we cannot use it.

To use it, you need to go to https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/ and check if the device is locked. If it is, the user's current credentials, such as Apple ID and passwords, will be required to access the device or make any changes.

If you're buying a used device and discover that the iPhone is locked , you should contact the seller and notify them. This tool will also be useful if you've lost your device and want to verify that it's locked to prevent unauthorized use.
