Install and activate iOS 5 Beta 4 on iPhone/iPad and iPod without being a developer
As you know, the new iOS 5 betas are only available to developers, but today we're going to tell you how to install and activate it without problems and without being a developer.
We need:
- 5 iOS Beta 4
- Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 (MAC or WINDOWS)
- Having a program like iPhone Explorer, iPhone Browser, or similar
Downloads:
- iTunes 10.5 beta Windows
- iTunes 10.5 beta MAC (beta 3, there is no 4)
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3GS
- iPod Touch 4G
- iPod Touch 3G
- iPad 1
Redsnow 0.9.8b4
Redsnow 0.9.8b4
Once you have what you need, just follow these steps. They should take less than 10 minutes: You can downgrade back to iOS 4.3.4 without needing to have the SHSH blobs saved, since iOS 4.3.3 did have the SHSH blobs saved.
We start:
1.- Connect the iPhone to the computer and open iTunes, click on shift+restore on Windows or option+restore on MAC and choose the downloaded beta.
2.- When the process is finished, open Redsnow and follow the steps, choose “Install Cydia”, put the iPhone in DFU mode and wait for the Jailbreak to be completed.
3. Now we access the iPhone files via SSH from an application like iPhone Explorer, iPhone Browser, iFunbox or similar, specifically we go to the following path:
- /system/Library/CoreServices/ and edit the file System Version.plist.
4. We look for the following text:
<key>ReleaseType</key>
<string>Beta</string>And we delete it , save the modified file, and replace it.
5.- All that remains is to put the iPhone back into DFU mode and run Redsn0w again, but this time choose “Just Boot Tethered Right Now”.
Once the iPhone starts up and after following the setup screens, you can connect to iTunes and activate it without any problems.
