iOS 11 installed on 25 percent of devices

One week after the launch of the new iOS 11, Mixpanel reveals that 25.81 percent of iOS devices have Apple's new operating system.

The charts highlight the adoption rate of iOS 11 at 15%. 10% of respondents indicated that people already had the update installed 24 hours after its release.

According to the data collected, it is known that the adoption of iOS 11 is growing, and although 67.75

percent of devices still have iOS 10 installed, part of the 6.44 percent of devices that are still running an older version of iOS.

iOS 11 vs. iOS 10

iOS 11 adoption rates are much slower than those of iOS 10. Last year, iOS 10 set a record by reaching two-thirds of devices installed in just 27 days. iOS 10 subsequently reached 76% adoption in January, and as of September 6, Apple's developer page indicated that:

• 89% of devices were running iOS 10.
• 9% on iOS 9.
• 2% of previous versions.

The iOS 11 update hasn't been plagued by installation issues like iOS 10. However, recent reports have indicated slowdowns in apps and decreased performance—bugs that could potentially be preventing people from installing the new software.

Pros and Cons of iOS 11

Based on the characteristics mentioned, we have noticed that the new operating system lacks several key functions for the devices, including:

• The P2P payment option with Apple Pay, a feature that will allow you to send funds to friends and family with iMessage.
• It was also noted that iCloud for iMessages is not included in this latest update. This feature allows your messages to be saved to iCloud and then synced across your devices.

We believe that these clearly noticeable delays have influenced users to choose not to download the new software.

iOS 11.0.1 update with bug fixes

Apple released its first iOS 11.0.1 update this morning, which includes: bug fixes related to Microsoft's email services, and improvements to the performance of the iPhone and iPad.

Although iOS 11's adoption is slow, the percentages indicate that iOS 11 is outperforming the new version of Android.

Android Oreo, released in August, isn't even listed on the Android developer website. Meanwhile, Android Nougat (the previous version) is only installed on 15.8% of devices.

Most Android devices continue to run Android Marshmallow and Lollipop, software that is now three years old.
