iOS 4.3.4 permanently removes the possibility of untethered jailbreaking on iOS 4.3.x

Apple is determined to end jailbreaking and, to that end, has intensified its efforts to patch the various exploits used to jailbreak iOS. This comes after Comex used its PDF exploit in the latest version of JailbreakMe.

Anyone with jailbroken devices running iOS 4.3.3 (iOS 4.2.9 for Verizon iPhones) should stay on this version if they want to maintain an untethered jailbreak. However, the bad news is that Apple has actually patched the untethered exploit that jailbreakers have been using since iOS 4.1.

i0n1c , the hacker responsible for the first untethers jailbreak of iOS 4.3, explained on Twitter that Apple did more than patch the PDF vulnerability used by JailbreakMe in iOS 4.3.4.

The untethered jailbreak distributed for iOS 4.3.x by tools like RedSn0w, PwnageTool , and Sn0wBreeze is no longer usable. This doesn't mean it's impossible to discover another untethered jailbreak method, but it's highly unlikely.

iOS 5 will be released to the public in a couple of months, and we're sure the Dev Team and the Chronic Dev Team are already working with the beta SDK to discover new jailbreak methods.

Unless you want a tethered jailbreak (the kind you have to repeat every time you turn off your device), iPhoneate recommends that you don't update to iOS 4.3.4, not even by mistake . It's best to wait for the official release of iOS 5.
