Jailbreak Untethered iOS 5.1.1 with Redsn0w 0.9.12b2

The Dev-Team has just updated Redsn0w to version 0.9.12b2 . New in this version is that Redsn0w will ask users with A4 or earlier devices if they want to use the Limera1n-based jailbreak method or the new "Rocky Racoon" method, which is the Planetbeing and pod2G exploit.

 

Limera1n is recommended if you want to avoid losing information contained on the media to unlock the device; this method is necessary for all users who want to unlock a SIM-locked device.

 

It also fixes an iBooks problem on the iPhone 3GS with the old Bootrom and provides more helpful error messages when errors occur.

For the following devices: iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and New iPad, you do not need to put it into DFU mode.

 

NOTE: If you have used Absinthe, it is not necessary to use this new version of Redsn0w since it uses the same exploit; only the jailbreak method changes.

Jailbreak Untethered iOS 5.1.1 Tutorial with Redsn0w v0.9.12b1:

  • Without putting your device in DFU mode:
  • Step 1-) Connect your device with iOS 5.1.1 already installed to your computer or Mac.
  • Step 2-) Run Redsn0w v0.9.12b1.
  • Step 3-) Click on the Jailbreak button, wait until Redsn0w finishes the Jailbreak process, until the Cydia logo appears on your device's home screen.
  • Step 4-) Run Cydia and test that everything is working properly.
  • That's it, you'll have Untethered Jailbreak on your iPhone 4/4S/3GS, iPad 1/iPad 2/ The new iPad and iPd touch 3G/4G with iOS 5.1.1.
 

Untethered Jailbreak Tutorial for iOS 5.1.1 with Redsn0w v0.9.12b1 Using DFU Mode:

  • 1.- Connect your device with iOS 5.1.1 already installed on your computer or Mac.
  • 2. Put your device into DFU mode.
  • 3.- Run Redsn0w v0.9.12b1.
  • 4. Click on the Jailbreak button.
  • 5.- You must make sure to check or activate the "Install Cydia" box and click Next.
