The EU believes that Apple continues to fail to properly inform its customers of their rights.
Hello iPhone users! The battle between the European Union and Apple over warranty terms for the Californian company's products continues in Europe. We remind you that, according to European law, every consumer has the right to a two-year warranty on any electronic device they purchase. However, Apple isn't doing its job properly when it comes to informing its customers of their consumer rights and is trying to sell them an "extended warranty with AppleCare."
This move has already cost Apple a €900.000 fine in Italy, the first European Union country to penalize the American company for failing to properly inform its customers about the guarantees stipulated by the European Union. After losing its appeal in Italy, Apple decided to provide more information about AppleCare on its website, but the European Union still considers this step insufficient.
“In at least 21 countries in the European Union, Apple continues to fail to properly inform its customers about their legal rights. Simply put, Apple is not doing things right.”
The fact that a member of the European Commission has spoken out against Apple makes things difficult for the multinational.
Consumer organizations in other countries such as Portugal, Germany, and Belgium are also taking legal action against Apple over this same issue.
