iMacs will be updated in the coming weeks

It's not too far-fetched a claim; it's logical that iMacs will be updated soon , since it's been quite some time since their last update. But according to Fox News, this will be imminent, within a few weeks. They assume that iMacs will have Ivy Bridge processors , improved graphics cards, USB 3.0, SSD options , and a thinner design thanks to the removal of the optical drive.

 

This image is from a Mountain Lion file ; it includes the devices that can create a bootable Mountain Lion USB , those that do not have an optical drive, and among them is an iMac 13.0 (IM130). Considering that the current models are the 12,1, it is logical to think that the next iMac will not have an optical drive.
