Microsoft buys GroupMe to improve Skype on the iPhone
WhatsApp is still the most used app for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. In the case of iPhone, it has been popular for quite some time and is widely used. There are many alternatives to compete with WhatsApp, making it easier to choose. Microsoft wants to compete with this app and has now acquired GroupMe for 60 million Euros in order to counter and improve Skype.
GroupMe has been around for a while on various device models, performing the same task, and so far it's working very well, which has interested Microsoft. The competition is starting, and Skype will soon be more sociable across devices.
Apple's iMessage is coming soon; whoever wins this competition for networks and communications between devices, let's hope it's the best application for everyone.
