OS X Yosemite, 4 times more used than Mavericks

Adoption rates for OS X Yosemite, the developer preview version, are breaking all records, with four times the usage of its predecessor, OS X Mavericks . The surprising level of developer interest in the software is evident in usage statistics released Wednesday by web analytics firm Chitika.

The great acceptance of OS X Yosemite by users

According to the data, adoption figures for the Yosemite betas in North America have significantly surpassed those of OS X Mavericks , about four times more.

Early adopters helped the developer version of OS X Yosemite reach 0,20 percent of total US and Mac OS X internet traffic. By comparison, the developer version of OS X Mavericks was only able to reach 0,05 percent after 30 days…

The data is based on hundreds of millions of ad impressions across Chitika's ad network in the United States and Canada.

In short, Chitika argues that Yosemite's adoption rates will surpass the figures of any previous Mac desktop operating system (once the software is released for public use this fall).

The increased level of activity introduced in Yosemite is likely partly driven by the majestic changes present in this version of the operating system, thus encouraging a greater degree of curious and experimental developers.

The changes in Safari, in particular, may be partly what led to a greater amount of current users using web traffic in terms of testing and customization they can perform.
