Don't lose your jailbreak with these tips
Well, iOS 7.1 is now officially the newest update for your iDevices , and if you want to update/restore , it will have to be to this iOS 7.1 , which doesn't have a jailbreak , and most likely never will until iOS 8 and its respective jailbreak are released.
We're going to teach you small but super useful tips so you don't lose your jailbreak because of a badly installed tweak or because you changed something in your iDevice 's settings.
Protect your jailbreak with the following tips.
Tip number one:
When we install a tweak that doesn't work well, or simply causes problems such as; continuous restarts, getting stuck on the Apple logo, or a thousand other errors that a poorly installed tweak can cause.
What we need to do is turn off the iDevice, and when we turn it on, we must press and hold the VOLUME + button until we see that we can use the Apple device.
This will turn on the device without any tweaks running; only Cydia will work properly. This way, we can enter Cydia and uninstall the problematic tweak.
Tip number 2:
Install the ResetAllKiller tweak. This tweak blocks certain options in your device's native settings app that could damage your jailbreak. (See video to learn which options are blocked.)
Many say this tweak is useless, but the truth is that more than one person doesn't know that these options in the settings app can end up in an iDevice with a great need to be restored in DFU mode.
Tip number 3:
This is the most radical one there is, and I only recommend it for those for whom tip #1 didn't work, and who have already tried everything.
It's a tweak called iLex Rat, and it allows you to restore your device without losing the jailbreak. The tweak only mentions compatibility up to iOS 6.xx, but on my help page, several people claim it worked fine for them on iOS 7. Also, since it's a last resort method—it either works or you have to restore—you have nothing to lose by trying. Remember that Apple devices are virtually impossible to break thanks to their DFU mode, where you can always restore. Click here to learn how to enter DFU mode.
How to use iLex Rat:
First we installed the iLex Rat and MobileTerminal tweaks.
Then we run MobileTerminal and we'll see something like this:
Then we execute the command "Rat" (without quotes).
And that's it, the device will begin to "restore", you just have to wait.
At the end it will ask us if we want to delete tweaks and settings… we will say yes or “y”.
And if everything went well, when the iDevice restarts it will be like new, but with the jailbreak intact.
(A similar tweak is iLex Restore, which has a more graphical interface)
If you know of a better method, please leave it in the comments; help us protect everyone's jailbreak.
