Could local programming be an attraction on Apple TV?

Apple is always looking to integrate something into its services and products that the competition doesn't have. Thus, the long wait for the Apple TV update could be due to the company's pursuit of integrating local programming, which could be a key move—at least, that's what Apple hopes.

According to Re/code, Apple's negotiations to bring local programming to its service could be delaying the update's release for US users. Apple also mentioned the possibility of launching a web-based TV service; however, Re/code's sources claim that no agreement has been signed with the service's programmers, making a launch at the June event unlikely.

The decision is a bit strange since most of its market prefers to look for other types of programming or watch recent series rather than local programming, but Apple's idea is to " reach the masses ," which would be a market of about 30 million people.

If included, Apple would have more opportunities to increase its user base, as it wouldn't affect other users who prefer more " premium " content. However, it's not a bad thing to have more options for different users. What is very clear, though, is that there are many obstacles to overcome in order to finalize the negotiations. Apple may have the intention, but it might not happen anytime soon.
