Hello iPhone enthusiasts, we all know that the unlock and jailbreak for our iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G have been released. Now, this update allows us to jailbreak these devices and also allows our pirated iPhone to be activated so we can access Cydia to unlock it…


Requirements:

  • Have iPhone 3G (legal or illegal)/iPod Touch 2G (MB Models Only)
  • Update to iOS4 from iTunes
  • Create a backup via SSH (optional)

Okay, what you need to do is update to iOS 4 from iTunes (this is because this redsn0w update only works with the original firmware). Once you've updated, you'll need to find the firmware downloaded from iTunes on your Mac/PC in the following locations:

  • MAC: /Users/(your user)/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
  • Windows XP: C:/documents and settings/(your user)/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
  • Windows Vista/7: C:/users/(your user)/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

Once you have located the firmware (the one iTunes downloads and with which you updated), you must copy it and paste it somewhere else so as not to touch the original; you can put it on the desktop.

Now open Redsn0w 0.9.5b3 and run it, click on browse, then in the window that appears look for the firmware you copied and select it.

Once redsnow has recognized the firmware, you have to click Next, and then choose what you want to install. I recommend that you check all the boxes except Custom Boot logo and Custom Recovery logo and click Next.

Now follow the instructions to put your iPhone/iPod into DFU mode and wait for the process to finish. After that, you will have your jailbroken and activated iPod/iPhone (in the case of illegal iPhones). That's all.

Note: Enabled means that you can access Cydia and not be in Emergency Call mode as it is when updating from iTunes, and you can access Cydia to perform the unlock.

To enable the battery percentage, go to: Settings/General/Usage and activate the "Battery Charge" box. To enable Multitasking, press the Home button twice.

In my case, I used an illegal iPhone 3G MB. All functions work fine, including Power On/Off.

To perform the unlock, it is necessary to install Ultrasn0w 0.93.
