Law approved to incorporate an anti-theft system in smartphones
One of the biggest problems facing California authorities revolves around public safety in the state. This is a critical issue they encounter daily, as it's estimated that 5 out of 10 people experience some form of assault, robbery, or mugging.
And we see that current security systems, anti-theft equipment, alarms, and even the use of new consumer technology such as GPS and cell phones , are no longer sufficient for police authorities to prevent these types of crimes.
That is why, as a result of so many punishable actions against American citizens, the "Federal Communications Commission of the United States" has announced the approval of a law to counteract these highly reprehensible types of aggression.
And according to this new government regulation, which went into effect 24 hours ago, it was mandated that from this date forward, all smartphones sold in California will have an anti-theft system or sensor to address the 30% to 40% of thefts that occur within North American cities.
This means that from now on, leading companies like Apple and Samsung will have to incorporate or equip their devices with anti-theft technology. This is to contribute to this new security measure for the benefit of citizens.
It's important to note that most Apple devices already have their own security system: Find My iPhone. This application allows users to locate their device through digital tracking of its location. This, in turn, gives them the ability to remotely lock the device via iCloud if it's stolen.
On the other hand, and according to the promulgation of law – SB 962, this rule will also be applicable to all smartphones manufactured after July 1, 2015, and that are subsequently to be marketed within the state of California.
This gives the mobile consumer or user an advantage so that the authorities can easily locate lost or stolen devices.
