Sega announces removal of games from the App Store due to lack of quality

The worst thing that can happen is having a game you love removed from the App Store , and that's precisely what Sega just announced on its official blog . The Japanese company released a statement announcing that some games for iOS and other platforms will be permanently removed, but it didn't specify whether they would be resubmitted for review.

Sega doesn't exactly have a large catalog of games for iOS or OS X , and Sonic has been the only character that has maintained the popularity of the company's creations since arriving on game consoles.

Other games in Sega's repertoire include Super Monkey Ball, Crazy Taxi, Shining Force, Total War Battles, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe , and others. The sole reason given for the games' removal is that they no longer meet the quality standards of the App Store and other mobile app stores, although all indications suggest the decision was made by Sega itself.

Sega has stated that those who have purchased games will be able to continue enjoying them on their devices and downloading them from the purchases section of their account in the App Store; however, they will not be available to new users.

The most intriguing thing is that, for now, the company hasn't specified exactly which games will be removed. However, given their previous clarifications confirming that it won't affect users, they can rest easier. Even so, we expect the list of games and the removal date to be announced soon.
