Showtime is now available for Apple TV

Just a few hours this morning, the company launched the latest version of its service, which doesn't require a cable subscription. Instead, users will now pay $11 per month for the service – after a free 30-day trial . But the story doesn't end there. It turns out that after the new Apple TV was released, the 'Showtime' app – which doesn't require a cable connection – began to affect the iOS App Store (even though the app hasn't been publicly tested yet). Furthermore, the new service will only cost $11 per month, compared to other, more expensive services like HBO, which costs $14.99 per month.

CBS's new channel, Showtime, is now available on the latest Apple TV.

Last year, a version of Showtime for Apple TV was released that required a cable subscription to access all the content. The app even allowed cable subscribers— who pay for the service packages —to access on-demand content through their set-top boxes. But with this new release, Showtime has announced plans to create a TV channel independent of Apple (which will launch early next year). For now, however, Showtime is exclusively available on Apple TV, but it's expected that the service will eventually be available on other set-top boxes (such as Roku and Sony).

Even so, the new app will be available on Apple TV and will have its sights set on the App Store in the near future. The ads will be published on the new 'Showtime' website.
