T-Mobile is offering to trade in your Blackberry for an iPhone 5s at no cost, generating controversy.

It seems the rumors about Blackberry 's imminent demise are getting closer to becoming a reality. Apparently, the phone company T-Mobile noticed this and, to prevent its customers from switching carriers when upgrading their Blackberry devices , launched a massive promotion offering to trade in their devices for an iPhone 5s at no cost to the user, provided they signed up for one of the company's plans—a rather convincing offer, to say the least.

The uproar this caused reached Waterloo, Canada, where BlackBerry's headquarters are located. Its CEO, John Chen, expressed his outrage at T-Mobile's actions, stating that the company had not been informed of such a promotion. He also clarified that "if they thought the 'BlackBerry customer offer' was going to be well received, they couldn't be more wrong." 

Chen was so angry that he urged Blackberry users to criticize T-Mobile's actions on social media. Following these events, John Legere, the head of the phone company, apologized for any confusion caused.

Following the aforementioned incidents, T-Mobile, in discussions with Blackberry, proposed promoting the brand in an attempt to mitigate the Canadian company's displeasure. As part of this promotion, the mobile phone service provider was willing to offer up to $200 USD to customers who switched from their old Blackberries to the new Z10.
