Ireland has been characterized as a country with lower taxes for technology companies, and this represents a great advantage for Apple, which has had one of its headquarters in that country for several years.
The tax rate that companies should pay would be 12.5%; however, the agreements offered by the Irish government mean that these companies (including Apple) have to pay a tax rate far below what they should , reaching only 2.5%, a figure that would be highly beneficial for Cupertino.
Having become aware of this “irregularity”, the European Commission has decided to investigate the matter, and that is why an investigation will be carried out on Apple, who apparently is avoiding paying the corresponding taxes.
