Undercover investigations reveal labor violations at factories responsible for iPhone production

A new undercover investigation by China Labor Watch (CLW) has revealed a series of ethical and legal labor violations at a factory in Wuxi, China . The factory is owned by the American electronics manufacturer Jabil Circuit , an Apple supplier responsible for producing the low-cost iPhone 5C , which is set to be released by Apple soon.
Among the violations uncovered by CLW are millions of dollars in unpaid overtime to workers . In addition, the report indicates abuses regarding permitted working hours , exceeding the legal limit by more than 100 mandatory overtime hours per month—three times the legal limit. This translates to more than 11 hours of standing every day without a break, skipping the 30-minute lunch break.
