The idea for a system that could distinguish between desired and unwanted ambient sound has been revealed in a newly discovered patent. Called "Decisions on Ambient Noise Suppression in a Mobile Communication Device ," it describes how to use noise-canceling microphones, proximity sensors, and gyroscopes to determine the user's intent.
