Tutorial: Save your certificate (ECID) in case you want to revert to version 3.1.2
Hello iPhone users!.., THIS PROCEDURE IS FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH FUTURE FIRMWARE SUCH AS 3.1.3 AND SIMILAR.
Hi, as I mentioned in the previous post, it's no longer possible to restore firmware 3.1.2 because Apple doesn't want jailbreaking of our devices... and although it's possible for 3G models, 1st Gen iPod and 2nd Gen iPod (not the MC series), it's not possible for the rest...
So if we want to jailbreak, we absolutely need to have firmware 3.1.2… so let's see how to save the ECID so we can later downgrade to version 3.1.2 if we accidentally install version 3.1.3.
We open Cydia and in Home we will see a little heart that says: “Make my life easy”…we click on it and the backup of our certificate will be sent.
You'll see that at the top of the Cydia home screen it will say: "This device has a pending TTS request", that means that the saving of our certificate is being processed...and in a few hours if we reopen Cydia it should already be done.
If you don't see the option I mentioned above, or if you've already selected it, you'll see something like this in small green text at the top of the Cydia home screen: “This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS: 3.1.2″
If you see that, it means your firmware certificate (ECID) is stored on the BigBoss server.
In a few days I'll tell you how to "trick" Apple's servers into allowing us to restore firmware 3.1.2 on our devices... however, once version 3.1.3 is installed, no further updates will be possible, as the baseband version will be updated (from 05.11.07 to 05.12.01).
Let's say it's about tricking Apple into jailbreaking our iPhone 3Gs, iPod touch 2nd Gen MC series or iPod Touch 3rd Gen devices if we accidentally updated them to 3.1.3.
NOTE: THIS TUTORIAL IS NO LONGER VALID AFTER FEBRUARY 6TH. IT ONLY ALLOWS YOU TO SAVE THE ECID FOR VERSION 3.1.3. THEREFORE, IF YOU DID NOT SAVE THE ECID BEFORE THAT DATE, YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO DO SO (FROM VERSION 3.1.2).
Anyway, I recommend saving the 3.1.3 ecid for the future.
