They're selling an Apple 1 computer for over 510.000 euros

 

This breaks the record set in 2012 at an auction also held in Germany. Vintage Apple computers are fetching increasingly higher prices, with users bidding higher for them. One of the most sought-after is the Apple I, the first computer built almost entirely by hand by Steve Jobs and Stephen Wozniak .

 

 

Last year one was sold for more than 200.000 euros and then, in Germany, another was auctioned that exceeded expectations with more than 490.000 euros.

Now, also in Germany, an Apple 1 computer, manufactured in 1976, has been sold for $671.400 (€518.885), including taxes and fees, thus obtaining the record for the most expensive computer of this type.

According to The New York Times, the high prices paid for these computers are due to several factors, including the scarcity of these machines, the fascination with vintage artifacts from the computer age, and the "mystique" surrounding Apple and its founders.

The NYT reports that these devices originally sold for about $666 , which, taking inflation into account, would sell for $2.700 on the normal market today.

The buyer was a millionaire businessman from the Middle East who prefers to remain anonymous.

According to Uwe Breker, owner of the German auction house, speaking to the NYT, these computers represent the ideal of the "American Dream." "You have two college dropouts pursuing an idea and a dream, and that dream becomes one of the most admired, successful, and valuable companies in the world," he said.
