Return to the simplicity of iOS 9's Spotlight with Spotlife (jailbreak)

If you miss the simplicity of iOS 9's Spotlight, we present a new jailbreak tweak called Spotlife that could be a beneficial addition to your device.

Installing Spotlife transforms the "Today" page on the home screen and lock screen on iOS 10 devices into a simpler iOS 9 Spotlight search page.

Instead of showing a bunch of features you'll probably never use, the tweak just brings up the Spotlight search bar and the suggestions section of the Siri app.

If you're interested in disabling the home and lock screens, but don't want to give up full access to the Today page, then you'll be happy to know that you can still access your Today widgets through the notification center.

Although it's possible to remove the "Today" page from the lock screen entirely by going to Settings -> Touch ID & Passcode, Spotlife doesn't completely disable the Spotlight page like iOS does; instead, it only removes the "Today" widgets, allowing you to continue performing Spotlight searches from the lock screen.

It's important to note that Spotlife lets you selectively choose where the "Today" widgets appear on iOS, so if you like having them on your home screen but not your lock screen (or vice versa), you can configure it from the settings app.

Spotlife is a free download from Cydia's BigBoss repository and works on all jailbroken devices running iOS 10.
