Apple has released the fifth beta version of its upcoming mobile operating system iOS 5, now available to developersAdditionally, and also in testing phases, Apple has released updates for the iTunes beta, Xcode Developer Preview 4.2, and iOS beta software for Apple TVSo it seems like a series of necessary updates ahead of the imminent arrival of iOS 5 for the general public sometime in the coming weeks.

What's new in iOS 5 beta 5? We still have to wait to see the changes introduced by Cupertino. But we will highlight several issues that we consider important based on Apple's recent announcement. The update is OTA , or over-the-air, without needing to connect the device to iTunes. However, before updating, Apple requires you to erase all previous content from your device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

On the other hand, and this is the most noteworthy point of all the instructions given by Apple today, those who are not developers and have iOS 5 installed should refrain from updating, as the update could render the device unusable and require repairs that would not be covered by the warranty. It seems that in Cupertino they have realized that many users have the beta version installed on their devices without actually being developers and are determined to put an end to this bad habit.

Once we know in detail what issues have been changed or added to this beta version of iOS 5, we will publish a post including them as usual.
